TV shows - Street food Latin America and Street food Asia

These are my learnings from watching the TV series ‘Street food - Latin America’ and ‘Street food - Asia’

I recently watched these TV series and wanted to take a moment to write down the important lessons that I learned by watching it. The stories of the men and women from this show are very inspirational and worth remembering.

  1. These men and women worked hard their entire lives - without a promise of success.
  2. They had no grand strategy when they made the choice to cook food and sell it on the streets. They did what they had to do to survive, to pay bills, to get their families out of debt, to send their kids to school,..
  3. They did not get to where they are today by dreaming about making money or getting rich. After they achieved success, they did not stop working hard. The thought of a vacation would not cross the minds of these people. Most of them swear that they will work till the day they die and I believe them. Getting successful in their street-food businesses and making some money along the way did not change the attitude of these folks. They work as hard today as they did when they first started their businesses - which is probably one of the reasons for their continued success.
  4. The success they achieved was a direct result of their hard work.

One other thing that was very inspirational - do not forget the old recipes taught to you by your previous generations. The new stuff may be fancy and colorful, but the old recipes are healthy and good - which is probably one of the reasons those recipes survived for so long - that the recipes were passed down from generation to generation without much change. Remember where you come from and have respect towards your roots.
