Habits - Approach your obstacles with curiosity

You may find yourself sidetracked at times by a little voice that asks, “Wouldn’t it be more fun to watch Netflix for the next six hours?” That is not a feeling to fight - it is a feeling to examine. Curiosity is your best weapon against distraction.

When you find yourself procrastinating, look at what’s going on in your mind. Are you bored? Scared? Frustrated? That insight can help you figure out what you need to resolve to get back on track.

Use the same approach when dealing with people as well. When you find someone resisting what you are asking them to do, try to put yourself in that person’s shoes for a minute, and think about why he/she is refusing to do what you are asking them. That will help you come up with suggestions. If all else fails, you will not be overcome with anger. Instead, you will have a better understanding of the situation and you will handle the rejection with grace.
